COUNTY PALS OFFERS LIFEGUARDING COURSE
Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services will offer the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course from March 26 through April 2 at the PALS indoor pool in Beaufort.
The course includes professional level CPR and first aid. It is scheduled March 26 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 27, 30, 31 and April 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must be 15-years old by the last day of the session and pass a swimming pre-test on March 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The pre-test includes swimming 300-yards continuously using crawl and breaststrokes. Swimmers must also swim 20 yards, retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool, swim 20 yards with the object and exit the pool without use of steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
The cost is $130 and includes all materials.
The PALS Beaufort indoor pool is located near Beaufort High School at 84A Sea Island Parkway. Swimmers are advised to use the Youmans Drive entrance. For more information call Anny Binette at 522-2903 or email her at abinnette@bcgov.net.
