COUNTY PALS OFFERS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE

 

 

Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services (PALS) is offering an American Red Cross water safety instructor course next month at the Beaufort indoor pool and sign-ups are under way now.

 

Classes are scheduled March 12 and 15 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and March 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants must be 16-years-old by the last day of the session and pass a swimming test scheduled March 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They must show they can swim 25 yards doing the front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke. They must swim the butterfly stroke for 15 yards, float on their backs for 1 minute and tread water for 1 minute. 

 

The cost is $130 and includes all materials.

 

The PALS Beaufort indoor pool is located near Beaufort High School at 84A Sea Island Parkway. Swimmers are advised to use the Youmans Drive entrance. For more information or to register call Vicki Hill at (843) 525-7043.
