ISSUING NEW VOTER REGISTRATION CARDS

The Beaufort County Board of Elections and Registration will be mailing new voter registration cards to all registered voters in Beaufort County. The reason for the countywide notification is because the entire county underwent a Re-precincting and Re-apportionment process. This added seven (7) new precincts, four (4) new polling locations, and adjustments to many precincts boundary lines.

The new voter registration card will be a paper voter registration card that will identify the voter’s voting district information along with the name of their polling location and polling location address.

These cards cannot be used as an acceptable form of identification at the precinct, unless a voter claims “reasonable impediment”. The voter will need to provide one of the five approved photo identifications (approved by the State of SC) in order to vote.

They are:

  • SC Driver’s License
  • SC Department of Motor Vehicle ID
  • Voter Registration Card with photo
  • US Military ID
  • US Passport

All photo identification must be valid and current (not expired or suspended). Voters should start receiving their new cards the week of May 26th. If a voter does not receive a new card by June 7th they can locate their polling place by accessing www.scvotes.org, and then click on “Find My Polling Place”.

If unsuccessful, please check with the Board of Elections and Registration Office in Beaufort at (843-255-6900) or the Bluffton office (843-255-6940).

You may also make inquiries by emailing voter@bcgov.net.

Now in Effect -- New Photo ID Requirements!
